It might seem foolhardy to plough your life savings into a winery perched on the side of Europe's most active volcano, but as soon as you taste this wine from one of Italy’s most exciting and tiniest producers, you will be thrilled. This wine is made from 100% Carricante from the eastern slopes of Mount Etna from pre-phylloxera vines that are between 100-120 years old. This wine is fascinating, really more like a red wine than a white wine with its textural feel of velvet. It is an elegant wine yet the flavor profile is full bodied, with notes of lemon rind and a bouquet of white stone fruits of apricot and peach, intermingled with savory notes of white flowers, chalk and minerals. Fantastic with crab linguine.
