From a producer who has been intense and serious about their lands, their craft, and their wines since moving to the area in 1673 we get a great wine with a some cool history. With a tradition of declassifying some of their Sommerberg grand cru (which starts right at their driveway) grapes to blend in wines like the Edelzwicker we get world class wines that fly under the radar. The current winemakers grandfather spent some time in Montana during WWII, returning for harvest in 1946, which we thought was pretty darn cool. Here we have a wine that is racy, structured, and shows great aging potential. We see lovely, light floral tones balancing a minerality, crisp orchard fruits, and just a hint of the petrol tones from the Riesling.
