“La Meirana” is the signature wine of Broglia which has a history of producing Gavi back to the first mention of the region in 971 AD. In fact, documents held in Genoa reference a vineyard and chestnut woods on the spot occupied by the Broglia estate today. This wien is made from 100% Cortese as required for wines labeled “Gavi di Gavi” DOCG under Italian law and is said to be the smallest and highest quality vintage ever recorded. It is racy, dry, and classic in showing characteristic kefir lime, pristine white flowers, peach, fresh almond, and minerality. Acidity is well in check and the wine offers more nuance and subtlety than many Gavis. “La Meirana” pairs well with fish stews with fennel and garlic.
