Château Aney was built in 1850, just before the wine classification system was initiated and later, earned Cru Bourgeois status. Situated in Cussac Haut Médoc, this left-bank château lies strategically between St-Julien and Margaux, at the epicenter of the great wines of the region. Château Aney achieves a traditional Haut Médoc more like what you might remember from the 1960s and 1970s. Not at all cloaked in new wood or over-extracted tannins, the wine has finesse and balance that makes it both approachable yet perfect for longer aging. Like most Bordeaux there is loads of concentrated ripe black fruit with powdered flower petals and black olive tapenade along with spicy black fruits and tobacco leaf.
