When we opened this bottle the first thing we said was “wow”. The deep, rich ruby red color of the 50% Sangiovese, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot makes this wine sparkle like a jewel and the nose is like a freshly baked cherry pie. This wine is from the coastal region of Tuscany and is big and round and evokes flavors of vanilla, tobacco and cocoa but has enough tannins to produce a clean, dry finish. While tasting it, I was transported to a rustic Trattoria where three inch thick Chianina steaks slathered with herbs and salt were roasting over a wood fire, but a nice elk steak would also be just dandy. This wine can be aged or drunk now.
