The Xinomavro grape is considered the noblest of the red grapes of northern Greece, and they named this vineyard "hedgehog" for a special reason...the ancient hedgehog nesting sites that sit within it. They farm sustainably and are entirely focused on protecting the little ones that live in the vineyard. They also have a vineyard site with turtles, isn't that cool?! I know, fun story, cute and all, but how's the wine...it's delightful!! One of our favorite examples of Xinomavro, it's classic, bright and fresh with the oak aging giving structured finesse but not overtly woody notes. Layering red fruits with spice, wild herbs, and fresh fennel frond the wine is precisely taught, balancing acidity, energy, and structure.
