We don't often pay much attention to points or ratings, but in 2016 this was ranked as one of the Top 100 wines, coming in at #37 by Wine Spectator. Entirely estate fruits, from very stressed, low yielding vines (that's a good thing), the wine is made in a classic Rhone style, broad and expressive with notes of cherry, raspberry, and pear with subtle white flower highlights and fine, firm tannins. Notes of tobacco, tar, and mineral weave in to the finish that just keeps on giving! This is a wine with weight and structure without being overbearing.
