The Konpira Maru winery began with humble roots, the brainchild of two mates that decided to make great wines while having a beer at the pub. Their goal was simple- to produce wines they wanted to drink and to inject a little fun into an industry often accused of taking itself too seriously. With minimal intervention and maximum care, and a limited release, their Mourvedre is made in a lighter style that really highlights the traits of the the vineyard. Bright and generous, it bursts with dark plummy fruit, violets, spice and subtle earthy tones. With a crunchy acidity, mid palate spice- the granitic soils really shine, providing grip, structure and layers of texture. Fun and delicious!
