A project from the Craven’s, a dynamic husband and wife duo, it’s named for the storms that dominated nautical exploration centuries ago in the Western Cape. Made in a fine Rhône style, and sustainably, the Syrah and Carignan are fermented whole cluster to keep a freshness. Aging in older barrels for nearly a year the wine balances red fruits like cherry and berries with notes of plum. The rich but fresh fruit is accented by an earthy minerality and touches of fresh wild herbs, it really has that South African sense of place.
