This wine comes from Hawke’s Bay on the North Island of New Zealand which is exciting, we sadly don’t see these Hawke’s Bay wines as much as we see the wines from Marlborough. Not that the Marlborough wines aren’t delicious, it’s just that other parts of the country make stunning wines too. The hot, dry summers in this region really give a lot to the wine. We get delightful ripeness but with freshness and finesse. An enticing Viognier, the nose is layered with cinnamon toast and lemon meringue pie that lure us in. The wine is soft but supple, delightfully layered, and so textural. A touch of spiciness is followed by a tangy, chalky finish and balances zesty citrus fruits, touches of stone fruits, and delightful white flower hints.
