La Petite Mort is one of the more unusual wine projects in Southern Australia. Made with ancient winemaking techniques, fermented in terracotta amphora, and bottled with minimal intervention. Saperavi is a rare indigenous grape to Australia and we are so lucky to have nabbed a few of these bottles.
This Saperavi spends almost 200 days on skins giving us brooding, dark-black fruits with wild Australian earthiness on the backbone from amphora aging. This wine is inky, with hints of liquorice, spice, and herbs like eucalyptus. Vinous, adventurous, and sensual- this is a must for the natural wine nerd.
